Demo account

Matilda can offer a read-only demo login on the sign-in page.

Enabling it​

MATILDA_DASHBOARD_DEMO_EMAIL=demo@example.com
MATILDA_DASHBOARD_DEMO_PASSWORD=change-me-demo

With both set, /dashboard/login shows a Use the demo account button.

How it behaves​

  • Always a Viewer. It cannot be promoted.
  • Its password is re-synced from the environment on every boot, so it cannot be locked out or hijacked.
  • It cannot change its own password and cannot be reset or removed from the dashboard.
  • An Owner can switch it off on the organization page. Sign-in is refused but the account remains.
  • The demo email must not collide with an owner or admin email. That combination is refused at startup.

Use it with sample data only​

A Viewer sees every lead, so enable the demo only on an instance running seeded sample data:

python -m matilda.seed
