Web chat

Leads do not need iMessage to reach Matilda. The web chat at /chat offers the same conversation in a browser, styled like an iMessage thread, and can be installed as an app on a phone or desktop.

Signing in

1. Open /login.
2. Enter your phone number and email address, then click Send code.
3. Check your email for a six-digit code. Codes expire after ten minutes.
4. Enter the code and click Verify.

The sign-in page always responds the same way regardless of whether the phone and email match, so it cannot be used to check whether someone is a contact. A wrong code can be tried five times before the code is burned. Requests are rate limited per phone and per IP.

Chatting

Type in the composer and press send. Matilda replies in a few seconds. Messages are capped at 4,000 characters. Your history loads when you return.

Tapback reactions only work over iMessage. In the web chat Matilda replies with text.

Installing as an app

The chat registers a service worker and can be added to your home screen or dock from the browser's share or install menu. It opens full-screen without browser chrome.

Your profile

Open /profile to see and edit:

• Phone. Read-only. It is your identity.
• Name and email.
• Timezone. One of eight US zones, used to time reminders.
• Reminders. A toggle for whether Matilda may text you nudges.
• Sign out.

Matilda keeps these up to date as you chat, so you rarely need to edit them.
